Friends,
Here we begin.
Ship at harbor, unknotting the rope that has kept us tied to shore. Here we venture into new waters, uncharted territory we’ve heard about and only scanned at the horizon.
Can I just say how much this means to me, that you are choosing to come alongside me on this new journey? With each response back, my heart grew in gratitude, joy, and humility and the incredible path we have in front of us.
My devotional book, All the Hard Things: 50 Days Through the Valley, is currently being edited. My editor said she is about halfway through, so I’m hopeful I can start getting edits back in the next month. I also filled out a preliminary form for cover design and how I want it to feel (!). I can’t wait to share more info with you as I get it!
But back to these new waters.
I’m calling this journey Holy Even Here, because even in the hard and terrible, the hurtful and heartbreak, the unanswered questions and inexplicable mysteries, yes, it is holy even here, because He is here, with us, in places such as:
Spiritual dryness and discontent
Mental and emotional struggles
Relationship strain
Grief
Fear and past hurts
Transitions and good hard things
How to pray about hard things
How to feel the feels through the hard things
Trusting God in the hard things
Letting go during hard things
And more
What you can expect:
Honest thoughts, encouragement, questions, and comfort on tough topics that we all wrestle with.
Occasional Zoom chats to talk, hear encouragement, and prayer time.
Interaction with each other through a Facebook group.
There will be more to come, so be on the lookout as we move forward, and if you have any suggestions or input, please let me know, as I’d love to hear about it.
I don’t have answers; I’m walking through hard things myself that are challenging and there may not be solutions at the moment. But it brings me comfort to know we are all walking together.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10
This community is growing. And our compass is pointing North, to our True North, who will lead us through the thicket and thunder, to take shelter in Him.
We may be afraid, but we are not alone. We can face the hard things together. Because it’s always better when we go with others.
Thank you for joining.
There’s Always Grace,
Sarah
